Upcycling of redundant factory materials to help schools in Indonesia

Inline with YKK’s Environmental Pledge and « Cycle of Gooness » thinking, from 2014 PT YKK Zipper Indonesia began consider ways to add value to their waste material. One example of this came to fruition in 2017 when the company donated 6 trash cans made from industrial containers to the 3 primary schools, SDN 1 Gandasari, SDN 2 Gandasari & MTs Miftahul Ulum in Cibitung, Bekasi. 4 bunkbeds made from modified iron bars formed from old machines parts have been donated to PONPES Mimbar Huffazh Boarding School in Setu, Bekasi. Yarn off cuts are also distributed to local communities to provide materials for crafts items, dolls and small hats which are then sold.
